LOOKING FORWARD TO THE FOCUS SEMINAR TOMORROW:
This is our first recording session, based on the already announced theme below:
https://www.globaljournalism.community/event/focus-seminar-transition-journalism-ethiopia-as-case/
Transition journalism is an emerging theme in journalism research. Ethiopia is a case in point. In 2018, Ethiopia embarked on a transformative political voyage towards a more open and transparent political culture, resulting in both new freedoms for the media and new uncertainties as to the future. Based on a series of lectures held recently for students in Addis Ababa, Professor Oddgeir Tveiten will curate a conversation with invited guests to reflect on three issues:
How ought we to understand journalism in Ethiopia before and especially after 2018?
How does the concept of ‘transition journalism’ cover the complexity of contemporary journalism in Ethiopia?
What theories and models of journalism might we identify to help us better understand the future of journalism in Ethiopia?
After a brief introduction, several panelists will contribute in outlining a framework for discussion. We will save as much time as possible for open discussion. The event will be recorded, edited and shared on the GjC website.
